What is E16 Error Code on DStv/GOtv?

E16 error that popped up on your TV screen when using your DStv or GOtv means you don't have active subscription on your decoder.  However, it is possible to see this error code when you have renew your subscription. This occur when your DStv or GOtv decoder is off when you make the subscription renewal payment.

To clear E16 on DStv , you can either use the SMS method, DStv official website or USSD method. Make sure your DStv decoder is turned On when you are using any of the method.

How to clear E16 Error on DStv using SMS method.

  1. Create a new SMS from your mobile phone.
  2. Type RA and leave a space after it.
  3. Enter the first 10 digits of your Smart Card number.
  4. Finally, send the message to the short code 30333.
       Example: RA 4543433329 to 30333 .

      Another way to clear E16 error on DStv is to visit the official DStv website. It is a very simple way to solve your E16 problem. All you need is:

      1. Scroll to the DStv ‘Clear Error’ section of the DStv website.
      2. Select E16 as error code type.
      3. Fill in your smart card number
      4. You need to also fill the Captcha text in box provided below it.
      5. Lastly, click on ‘Clear error’.
      You can clear E16 error on your GOtv with a simple text message or by eazy self service method via GoTv official website for Nigeria.
      To fix your GOtv E16 error on your decoder, you have to make your decoder is turned on with active subscription on it. The error problem will not be fixed if you don't have an active subscription. 

      1. Create a new message on your phone (from the phone number you registered you GOtv with).
      2. Send ‘RESET IUC Number‘ to 4688 (example ‘RESET 1234567890‘ to 4688)
      3. Tap send.
      Note: Your IUC number is the number on a red label under your decoder.

      How to Clear E16 Error on GOtv via Easy Self Service.

      You can also get rid of the E16 GOtv error by using the Easy Self service on  GOtv official website. To do that:

      1. Navigate to the GOtv ‘clear error’ section of the  website
      2. Enter your IUC number
      3. Choose E16 as the error code to be cleared
      4. Enter the captcha code
      5. Click ‘fix error’. Done!

      The DStv/GOtv E48-32 error means there is something wrong with your decoder signal. The E48-32 error comes up mostly when there is heavy rainfall or when it is very windy. This commonly happen to GOtv because the position of the antenna can shift easily under heavy rainfall or windy weather condition unlike DStv that makes use of Dish.

      How to Fix E48-32 Error on DStv/GOtv.

      When you see the E48-32 error suddenly appear on your TV screen while watching your favorite show or movie, just wait it out especially when you're a DStv user; the signal should return on its own when the weather clears.

      3. Go to Menu>Advanced>Installation – click on Auto scan.
      4. If the error is not a general issue from GOTV, channel 48 and 52 will come up for you.
      5. When the scanning is complete, you see Channel 99. If it doesn’t come up, you will need to rescan to have access to all channels you paid for.

      Other Ways to Clear Errors on DStv/GOtv.

      Besides the aforementioned methods of clearing error code on DStv/GOtv, you can also clear the E16 error via USSD or Email. If your account payment is up to date, you can reset this error by dialing *288#or send a mail to gotv.nigeria@ng.multichoice.com. the mail must include your IUC/Smart card number and detailed explanation of the type of error you want clear.
